Are you itching to get back to the office, or dreading it?
However, you feel it’s not going to be quite the same as pre-pandemic.
The buzz words of the moment are flexible working, hybrid working and agile working.
These terms are bandied about but seem to have very little meaning…
What looks to be emerging from the swamp of think tanks and committees, Zooms and Teams chats is some kind of Home/office mashup.
This is going to look very different depending on where in your organisation you are positioned.
If you are a top dog (or cat) you probably won’t see much change as you flit from boardroom to quango, networking on the golf course here, promoting the business at a charity event there.
Likewise, if you are a denizen of plant rooms and basements (like your author) things will stay damply the same.
But for the office dwellers, things will change, at least for the short to medium term.
It’s likely to be a case of coming into the office for a day or two a week to “touch base” and the rest of the week working from home.
What do you think? Is it going to be a brave new world of hotdesking, dynamic, agile working.
Or does it sound too horrible to even consider?
Is the flexibility going to work both ways or will it be another target to achieve?
A cooperative effort between workforce and management? Or another subtle way to blackmail you into working longer hours for no reward much like “team player” has become…
